2008年1月8日、アップルは本日、8基のプロセッサコアと新しいシステムアーキテクチャにより、旧機種に比べ最大2倍の性能*を発揮する新しい「Mac® Pro（マックプロ）」を発表しました。新しいMac Proは、最大3.2 GHzで動作するIntelの新しい45ナノメートル製造プロセスによるクアッドコア Xeonプロセッサを2基搭載するほか、強力なグラフィックス処理、そして最大4TBの内蔵ストレージを備え、クリエイティブプロフェッショナルや3Dデジタルコンテンツクリエイターそして科学研究者にとって理想的なシステムを提供します。標準的な8コア構成では349,800円から提供されます。

2008年1月8日、アップルは本日、新しい「Xserve®（エックスサーブ）」を発表しました。従来モデルに比べて最大2倍の性能を発揮*する1Uラックに最適化されたサーバにはMac OS® X Server Leopard™の無制限クライアントライセンスが含まれ、価格は359,800円からとなっています。新しいXserveは最大2基のクアッドコア3.0 GHz Intel Xeonプロセッサを搭載して8コアパフォーマンスを実現するほか、新しいサーバアーキテクチャ、より高速なフロントサイドバスとメモリ、最大3TBの内蔵ストレージ、そして2基のPCI Express 2.0拡張スロットを備え、さらなる高性能と柔軟性を実現しています。
